Connecting Iberian wines to the US market

Introducing undiscovered wines from

SPAIN AND PORTUGAL

There are winemaking regions in Spain and Portugal – Rioja and Ribera del Duero, the Douro Valley – that are by now fairly familiar to United States wine lovers. Meanwhile, excellent wines have always been and are continuing to be produced by dedicated family wineries in such lesser-known areas as Montsant, Ribeira Sacra and the Minho. And, encouragingly, these producers are often also highly committed to organic or sustainable viticulture practices.

Many of these fascinating regions and producers, despite having a strong presence in other European countries, are still relatively unknown in the United States. And that’s where we come in. Inspired by adventurous buyers and consumers in California, we look for what’s new in Iberian winemaking (lower alcohol, restrained use of oak, minimal intervention), and also what’s old – young winemakers who are returning to the terroir and winemaking principles of their ancestors with the resuscitation of indigenous varietals and artisan winemaking techniques.

Formerly known as Cohen Siderow Wine Imports, we are now exclusively focused on wines from the Iberian Peninsula – and including others in our project who share our philosophy and passion.
